An apple for an iPhone

On October, 14th 2011 o2 started selling the new iPhone. But Apple obliged o2 not to promote the sales start in advertisings as the launch communication was exclusive to Apple. So o2 gifted two iPhones as presents without talking about it. We distributed thousands of apples with QR codes saying "Come to the next o2 shop and ask for the packet from Cupertino". We filmed funny reactions of different people and documented the act via Youtube. And so everybody knew where to get the new iPhone.
"Like to have an apple?" we asked many many people waiting patiently in a long row in front of the Apple Store in Hamburg for hours. Everybody denied not knowing that they could get the new iPhone for free just 200 m down the road at the o2 Shop.
Scanning the QR code with an QR reader prompted the message directing to the o2 shop.

He got it.
