The Burning House ~ Joseph Haydn's marionette opera
Leander
This school project was about to create a marionette puppet for a baroque marionette opera, The burning house by Haydn.
Leander, my character is a selfish, over confident, rich man, who is interested in the heroine, Colombina until he thinks she is wealthy. When he finds out, she isn't, he leaves her. He is a negative character, which made me choose this character.
I wanted to express that he is stock up, with his facial expression. My main concept was the make most of his body covered with baroque leaf motives and paint them gold, to express he's rich.
This puppet was made in 2016.
It is 45 cm tall, plus the leading stick and strings.
