• To create the box I used several tools and machines such as Radial Arm Saw, Joiner and Planar, Table Saw and Clamps and Vices, Router Table and Sanders.
  • I used four types of wood joints - Miter, Splines, Rabbets and Dado joints. I also used three types of wood species two of which were for the main box part and one was for for the splines. For the box I used Ambrosia Mable and Wormy Red Oak. Both of these woods are wormy and have small holes on them. My decision to choose wormy woods was intentional since I wanted the box to have small holes which contributed to the design by creating unique texture. For the spline joint I used East Indian Rosewood which is darker than the other two wood species to make it stand out.
  • For the finishing, I put Polycrylic Protective Finish which was semi glossy.  I choose this finishing because it protects wood from fingerprints and is a good finish for a box that will be handled a lot.
