BASKERVILLE SPECIMEN BOOK
Task:
I was required to design and produce a 16-page specimen for a typeface. It can be wilding flamboyant or classical in its approach. The main goal was to demonstrate the range of a typeface, applied to headlines and text in variety of sizes with all the variation of the typeface labelled on the page.

Baskerville
Idea:
In the begging of my research I found that Baskerville typeface was usually used for formal publications in such as the Harvard University Press, Cambridge University Press And in the Bible. Therefore, I thought about challenging the typeface itself and using it in a more informal way and what can be better to do so than today’s magazines and fashion books.
In my design, I focused on the unique characteristics of the typeface and one of the letters that caught my attention was the letter Q, so I used the tail and came up with an illustration based on it and designed the book with it. I tried playing with letters to show their abilities and how far you can go with it in your designs. For example: in one page I designed the entire page and it’s illustrations based on the letter A in 950 pt.
