PULSE & PowerPoint: Internal Communication Creation

PULSE & PowerPoint
Internal Communication Creation

Objective
To absorb Human Resources’ internal efforts into the Communications’ role as a whole, and assume control of the weekly break room PowerPoint and bi-weekly park PULSE newsletter.

Direction
Per Human Resources, the PULSE and PowerPoint operate as follows:

PULSE Newsletter
•  A bi-weekly email concerning every department (Admissions, Guest Services, Photo, Games, Aquatics, Attractions, Entertainment, Finance, IT, Safety, Food & Beverage, Merchandise, Group Sales, Human Resources, Marketing, and Public Relations).
•  Content includes info relevant to employees of all levels, but meant for those entry-level team members who are not usually included in meetings/announcements. Reach out to departments specifically for upcoming event details, new park offerings, and safety information.

Break Room PowerPoint
• A looped slideshow meant to educate front line team members while on their break.
• Content includes team member pictures, upcoming events, safety info, the park calendar, a greeting, and HR hours.

Personal Goals
Team Member-Based: To establish internal communications as both a voice and a spotlight for frontline team members, specifically targeting those who feel underappreciated in their roles and are more likely to act out on the job.
Uphold Consistency: To recreate the PowerPoint and PULSE with the same colors, font, and verbiage we use in Marketing and PR efforts.
Upgrade Efforts: To utilize the specific tools (park camera, editing software, project management software, computer access), skillset (video/photo editing, Microsoft know-how, writing and editing), and connections (department heads & park leadership, safety authority, PR approval) at my position’s disposal and revamp internal communications.
Strengthen the Brand: To better instill and promote a positive image of the park brand to all team members.

Conclusion

Using the contacts and resources at my disposal, I was able to recreate the internal communication we present to team members at all levels and keep the look, feel, and message of our brand consistent.
