"STREETS" PHOTOBOOK

STREETS
My "Streets" project originally began as just a photo series but with time evolved into creating a book. The concept of the photo series was to document a visual representation of social stratification. Social stratification can be defined as: a society's categorization of people into socioeconomic strata, based upon their occupation and income, wealth and social status. I attempted to do this by walking street to street in San Marcos, Texas and photographing each house on these streets. I began to notice how you could tell which streets were "more wealthy" than others. Or when I was in a rougher part of town. It amazed me how much the value of property could fluctuate in such a small town.
Below are examples of the individual photographs of the houses. When photographing I became more aware of my composition so that the curb of the street and the houses would almost line up perfectly when put together in a Photoshop document.
Some example images of how the final stitch/panorama looked.
Details from the "Streets" Book.
