Collector's room - The doll collector

The doll collector

The loss of a child is always a horrible tragedy. It’s impossible to forget and hard to move on. Some people can make it and others don’t. Sarah couldn’t do it. She can’t let go her past. She lives in it. She stopped the time for herself, at least in one, secret room in her house.  That room is not only a secret to the society, but her own family, her husband.
The aging woman created a real-life snow globe in there, a separated bubble where nothing changes. The room was her daughters. The main parts are untouched, the daughters furnitures remained the same like a display, only a little corner is different. That is the workspace, where the woman creates her handmade dolls. Every year, she makes another, a bit taller, a bit older version of the loved and lost child. The dolls aren’t perfect or professional, but they are her daugthers lookalikes. Sara never learned how to create them but she has the instict to do so, to make this lovefull, weird memorial. She places them in different parts of the child’s room, creates lifelike scenes while the door is closed and the paper-covered windows keep her biggest secret safe and untouched.

-At the time I was making this, I was highly inspired by Mark Ryden's art.-
