Brief:
Create a reusable kit that contains everything you need to grow culinary herbs in your home.
Concept:
Sow and Grow is a new 'grow your own' herb kit that is designed for people who want to be healthy and fit. It contains three herbs including: parsley, basil and coriander. These herbs were chosen due to their versatility in which they can be used in arrange of dishes.
The pack is made out of biodegradable materials so that it can be planted in the garden after the herb is well established. whilst the tray makes it possible to place it on the windowsill for direct sunlight.
The herb illustrations on each box include each herb seed in the kit and provides identification for ease of use during the planting stage. I originally considered in my previous design to cut out illustrations to give a luxury feel, but decided it was too intricate and would weaken the packaging, therefore I stayed with this idea , I also added simple diagrams which containing information needed to plant grow and harvest the herbs on one side of the boxes.
As for the sleeve I included basic information about each herb, including origin and healthy simple foods, whilst using the back of the packaging to provide more information about the kit. The QR code on the packaging provides healthy recipes selected for the kit, this was done to make the younger generation interact with the product and be more interested in growing herbs. Finally the O of the logo was made to resemble a seed to give abit of imagery which could be used to expand the brand.
The structure of the packaging was designed to go from a young seedling, to a mature herb plant by opening up the box. This was done to give the idea that the packaging is growing and will continue to do so once the seeds are planted. The herb design also creates a secure clasp for peace of mind, whilst the box is the actual growing container (with soil).
