For this project I had to create my own magazine and gear it towards a specific audience. My concept was to create a magazine for tourists who want the local experience of NYC, instead of visiting the touristy places such as the empire state building or the statue of liberty, for a more unique, traveling experience.
Specifically speaking, this magazine will have articles on hidden gem restaurants, bars, hotels, museums, coffee shops, history/architecture, nature/parks, travel/leisure, art, and music.
Sections in every issue include: low-key, free, upcoming events (concerts, craft workshops, carnivals, food festivals, block parties, active tours, etc.); feature restaurant/bar; feature nature spot; feature history/architecture spot; feature hotel spot; feature art spot; and hidden gem tourist tips.
The requirements for this project were to create a cohesive design throughout all pages of the magazine including the cover, contents, and feature article. In addition to this, I designed the magazine's unique logo and came up with its creative and catchy name to set it apart from its competition.
