Lessons from New York.
Thank you.
New York City, I needed you. I needed your people dancing, playing music, rushing or taking it easy in the middle of the crowd. I needed the noise, the traffic, the beauty, the mess, the chaotic, yet lovely life of the truly young. And I felt everything all at once in your busy streets, and I can swear 3 AM is the most beautiful time to see you, to feel you, to fall in love with the idea that no one could ever own you, but  the ones who gave up on everything to taste you; to believe in the most beautiful of the promises: That everything is possible as long as they remain yours...

Between my two visits to the magnificent NYC, I took a path away from myself without realising it: I drowned myself in a life too rational to call mine, I found someone who could never understand my fascination towards life nor people, and called it love. I found everything in the world to feel safe just to fail miserably at it, over and over again. Because that person could never be me; I live out of passion, motivated by the simple beauty of feeling deeply, of falling in love with the only idea that makes me feel like there's enough air in the room: That I cannot own anything and absolutely nothing could ever own me. That it all comes and it all goes, that I am here to hold and let go.

It all made sense in the city that never sleeps. I didn't want safe, I wanted thrilling. And this lesson I owe to the people in these photos, complete strangers just being, and that's the most beautiful thing we can do; to be.

Thanks Leo for showing me around. Thanks Thomas for letting me be, around you.

Cheers, darlin'.
