I want introduce one of my definitely all-time favourite projects, the artwork of Flamme Rouge the board game.

Lautapelit.fi asked if I was interested in illustrating a board game, set in the classic period of bicycle racing in the first half of the last century. I guess I did not think about the answer even for a second. Cycling has been my beloved hobby for many years, so the assignment was truly made for me. Designed by Asger Granerud, the game proved to be very good and addictive during the tests, so I was downright excited.

In addition to a striking box cover, I had to do the elements of track pieces, player cards, and the players’ boards. All participants had a great desire to make this an excellent game. In my opinion, we managed quite well. The graphic design was done by Jere Kasanen.

The game rules are simple and fast to learn, but its subtlety lies precisely in the fact that to win you must use tactics. As much I have knowledge of the cycling races, the atmosphere is in place and the game models the race well. The game has been a success, both in sales and reviews.
