Bangor University
An illustrated direct mailer for the UK's most adventurous University.
To cut through the negative perceptions of Bangor University’s North Wales location, an illustrated map was produced to celebrate the University's stunning geography and adventurous spirit.
The mailer aims to reinforce Bangor's 'Go Beyond' positioning. The map not only communicates the variety of clubs & activities, pioneering facilities and world-leading research within the local campus, but also the global opportunities and ways in which Bangor makes a difference to the world.
Appealing to the most curious and adventurous young minds, the map was sent out to all 2017 applicants to remind them that Bangor should be their first choice University this coming September.
Prospective students are bombarded with information from numerous University's during this time, therefore producing a crafted, meaningful and valuable piece of communication was important to make an impact.
To create an authentic map as possible and evoke a sense of adventure, thick raw card stock was used on the cover which contrasted well with the lightweight uncoated stock used for the inner pages. It is intended to feel sturdy, unrefined and ready to pop in your back pocket for an adventure.
The map has been hand illustrated by myself and took influences from naive illustration styles to convey the sense of child-like adventure and limitless possibilities.
