Whilst on a research trip to Antarctica, a group of marine biologists stumble upon a herd of dead seals. Surrounding the seals they find an area of ice that is peculiarly contaminated. To prevent the rapid spread of the infection, the source ultimately needs to be found. Immediate scientific tests need to be conducted to ensure that the outbreak is not a biodiversity risk nor threatens the human race.
