This project transformed "The Second Sex" by Simone de Beauvoir into a dynamic digital book. The book uses contemporary statistics to highlight the lack of progress in women's rights since the book's publication in 1949. Users can click the play button at the bottom of the screen, obscuring the text through movement. The seemingly random movement or action with the text page is then made sense of by viewing the contemporary facts through swiping to the right. There are also pop up videos scattered throughout the text, giving the user a lack of control and forcing them to recognise the stark realities of being a modern woman. This project was submited to the ISTD.
