Spray paint | 5th international Biennale of young art | 2016 (RIP 2019)

In 2016, Dima participated in the 5th international Biennale of young art with the project “Good Deal”. Rebus was provided with the building on the Trekhgornaya manufactory as an object for street-art formation.
The facade of this building was ‘packed’ in painted polythene film, thereby turning it into a tray with finished products and goods. There was an inscription on the label of this art object: "100% lean". Since originally street-art is spontaneous and unsanctioned activity, it is not possible to make a work of street art as part of an official biennale project.

“I wrapped up the building for the audience. This type of styrofoam packaging for prepared food can be found on the shelves of any grocery store. When you walk into the store, you don’t have to hunt for food – it’s already waiting for you in these packages. All you have to do is choose the goods that best suit your needs. The exhibition operates a little like a store, where the display is already pre-packaged, with little space for improvisation. The label of my packaged art object includes a line assuring that the product is “100% extra lean.” This is no accident: in the very beginning, street art arose as a spontaneous creative response to the urban environment. Street art created officially for the biennale is an oxymoron. 100% extra lean.”
