Here are my sketches for the project. I wanted to go the traditional route so I drew a lot od crests with the coat of arms or like a banner with my family name printed across.
I eventually settled on these roughs here, and I liked the idea of having a traditional crest. What was hard for me was figuring out what i wanted to put inside the quadrants.
This was my first idea for my crest in Illustrator. The reason that i did not go through with this design was because I thought that there was a lack of visual aid from the bottom two quadrants because they were partially covered by the banner.
During this faze when I was going back and forth between design the Behance collection that I created help me figure out what i enjoyed and what I did not. It was helpful to look at someone else's crest to see what I liked about it and then to be critical when looking back at my own.
