Cadiz, Spain

"Qué bonita es Cádiz por la tarde" - Los Acuarela
When I moved to Cádiz, I learned to be Spanish, but more precisely how to be a ''Gaditano.'' I spent a year abroad living in this small gem of a place on the south coast of Spain. It is home to white sandy beaches, panoramic breathe-taking views along the ocean path, cobblestone one way streets, and tightly knit neighborhoods full of laughter, singing, and smiles. One year living in a Spanish host family consisting of an elderly lady and her elderly dog Tara as well as going to a local high school taught me the in's and out's of what it is truly like to be part of the newly developing young generation in Spain. I had the opportunity to experience their friendships and to become part of a community rich in culture. I saw through their eyes, their little hope of a secure future (due to the economic crisis/lack of educational & job opportunities) yet found that even love can be found in the darkest of times. Here are pictures of Cádiz, la ciudad que sonríe.
1 year living in Spain has changed my life and has given me a reason to keep on traveling.  It has reminded me that there is so much beauty in this world, waiting for me to experience and to share with others :).
