These projects were part of JAM 271: Introduction to Jewelry and Metals. Throughout the course, I was assigned four projects. See below.
Project 1: make a puzzle of two pieces of metal. Learn how to use a jeweler's saw, different finishes, and how to shape accurately. Materials: Brass and copper. Finish: sandblasted.
Project 2: Use metal to make a fantasy tool that solves some kind of problem. This fantasy tool is a “rain repeller”. Materials: copper, silver solder, mirror. Finish: burnished.
Project 3: Use the skills you’ve learned so far to make a ring. Material: brass, silver solder.
Final project: make a container that can open and close. Materials: copper, sea glass. Finish: burnished then dipped in liver of sulfur.
