My graduation project
OBJECT
The object of my project is the Historical Museum of the Presnya region in Moscow
ABOUT
Today the museum is in decay: there’s no a unified equipment design, the museum space looks
unfriendly and obsoletely, the system of the communication with a visitor is boring. The goal
of the project is to design the unified navigation and the equipment system which connects
the elements of the current exhibition and attracts new audience to the museum
concept: THE SPIRAL OF HISTORY
The Presnya region in Moscow where the museum is located is famous by the fact that here some
important for Russia`s 20-th century history events have had place: the revolutionary uprisings
in 1905 and in 1907, the putsch of August 1991 and the coup d'etat in 1993. Spiral symbolize
the cyclicity of history so that`s why I chose it as a graphic symbol of my project
MUSEUM PLAN
Current exhibition is placed on three floors of the main museum building and in the wooden outbuilding
OUTDOOR INSTALLATION
I create an outdoor installation to attract the visitors even from the streets. The installation consists of 7 semi-transparent portals, each of which symbolize the definite historical period in the Presnya region history. Every period affects the design of its portal by the details of architecture included, of the furniture, of the household items and other details of the environment. Portals create an effect of the time-machine by overlaying one on another so the installation meet the goal of showing us a straight connection with all the historic periods
MAIN EXPOSITION
For the main exposition, where the household items from the end of the 19-th century up to the 90-th are exposed I create a system of fences made of transparent red acrylic glass. This design lets the exposition
look open to the visitors and protected at the same time
outbuilding
For the outbuilding, where the Second World War exhibition is placed, I design a round exposition
zone, a system of podiums and suspended photos and a showcase for medals` exhibition
NAVIGATION
I continue my graphic concept in the museum navigation with the
walls and stairs decoration and with the infographics design
