The main cause of coral bleaching is human activity from climate change. When the ocean water is too warm, the corals expel the algae living in their tissues causing the coral to turn completely white. The coral is not dead when it bleaches, however, they are under more stress and subject to mortality.
With this project, I wanted to focus on creating an uncomfortable beauty. I wanted the audience to see beauty in how I created the coral out of paper, and also remember the underlying message.
