My work explores the importance of highly-tactile surfaces in the home environment and emphasizes the positive impacts those products have on those who interact with them. Because user-focused material innovation is at the forefront of every design choice, each product begs for interaction, exploration, and enjoyment.
By engaging in this multi-sensory experience, the user will feel a subconscious shift in mindset that brings them into the present moment and eliminates distraction. This phenomenon is triggered by the sensation of touch and has the power to become a subtle, soothing element in one’s home. The emphasis on soft, textural fabrics is a direct response to the ever-increasing presence of the smooth, cold, technological surfaces that invade every facet of modern life. To fully appreciate the work’s textural qualities, one must slow down long enough to enjoy it – a counter-cultural concept in today’s society.
