Elizabeth River Crossings, in Virginia, has been making major transportation improvements to help ease congestion through the Hampton Roads Area. PRR was tasked with producing an animation highlighting the benefits of the new MLK Expressway. In collaboration with our video team, I used the existing video script to propose a couple of different animation ideas. Once we settled on a direction, I created digital storyboards and then moved into illustrating every scene. I worked closely with the animator, providing feedback on the animations and making any final adjustments to the illustrations as the client requested them.

The audience for this animation was not limited to Hampton Roads area residents, it was also meant to be informative for visitors to the region. Taking this into consideration, it was very important to provide geographical context and show how the new expressway would connect existing roadways. I illustrated a fun map using google images and a list of key landmarks provided by the client.

This map has since been used in a series of print ads as well.
