MOD FASHION

THE INSPIRATION

Mary Quant and the Mod Movement of the 1960's has always been one of my favorite periods in fashion.  It was a period of fashion influenced by energy, innovation, futuristic thinking and rebellion.  Yves St. Laurent's shift dress inspired by the French painter, Piet Mondrian signified a shift in the merging of art and fashion.

THE ARTWORK INTERPRETATION

I enjoy mixing mediums and styles in my work.  With this piece, I was inspired by Piet Mondrian's art and the energy of the Mary Quant trapeze silhouette.  I used Prismacolor markers and Prismacolor pencils to create a dynamic illustration that captured the 1960's to me.
THE INSPIRATION

Amongst my all time favorites and probably the muse that has inspired the VV look the most is Twiggy.  I pulled inspiration from her signature doe-eyes and paired it with a Pierre Cardin high collar coat to create a vignette that came about really organically.
