Shader Condos
Using Maya's Bone Structure System To Create Operable Shaders
The Shader Condos in Destin, Fl were designed to maximize the scenic views while reducing solar heat gain. These operable shaders were designed so that the beautiful view of the surrounding landscape is not compromised when they are shut, and their location on the exterior of the glazing stops solar heat gain before it has a chance to enter the building envelope. The light colored materials used in the design also help to reflect heat. I designed the shaders using the bone structure system in Maya 2010. This allowed the operable shaders to actually be able to open and close in the 3D computer model.
