Interior Materials - Culture and Materiality

Project required to choose an international city as the hypothetical site for the project, and to choose a space type we'd like to focus on.

Jaipur, India
Spa Reception

Client: Woman recently moved to Jaipur, and now wants to open a spa. After a few years of living in Jaipur, she wants to open her own spa. Her main client target are the tourists because she knows they will be most interested in a luxury like this while taking a vacation, while residents do not tend to splurge on luxuries in their hometown.

Concept: Create an interior that will continue to teach tourists about Jaipur and its culture, while they take a day off adventures through a calming environment. This will be done by keeping a connection with nature and its elements even though clients are on the inside.

Pink colors were used because Jaipur is know to be the "Pink City". This color is know to represent hospitality.
The goal was to create a calming environment which permits either natural daylight, or artificial daylight through. Could be used on exterior (daylight) or on interiors (artificial light). Inspiration came from Mashrabiya windows.
