The design of this site was framed as a sub-brand of the West India Committee website so it had to be obviously related but distinct. We worked with the project director to create a look and feel which combined historical references (Regimental colours for example) and web and mobile technology.
This project documents and preserves records depicting the Caribbean’s role in the First World War. Thousands of photographs and archives were meticulously collected and digitalised to provide a rare insight into the Caribbean’s involvement in the war. The site tells the history of 16,000 volunteers who served in the British West Indies Regiment and were located in all theatres of the war. Much of what is now available online has not been seen for a century.
A Pedalo project.
