Save the Arctic Poster

I’ve been looking at a lot of geometric designs lately, so was inspired to give it a try. I wanted to add some new things into my Poster designs portfolio page so I decided to design a poster about what I’m passionate about; saving the environment. I’ve considered myself to be green friendly for many years now. I conserve water and turn off lights, however in college I started becoming more of an environmental activist. I was involved in campus clubs such as I.D.E.A.S (Intellectual Decisions on Environmental Awareness Solutions) in this club we sought to make the campus a greener place and even started a bike share program. I also joined this group on a Climate March on Washington and also the Summit Climate March in NYC. Through my friends and this group, I’ve designed many posters for environmental causes and even got to do work for the Atlantic Chapter of the Sierra Club!

Here are some more technical points to my design: I created this in all 3 of Adobe’s design programs. The polar bear and iceberg I created in Illustrator. I had a nice picture of a polar bear at sunset in the arctic up for a reference to shapes. I also designed the logo in Illustrator. I wanted the poster to be an ad of sorts to be mostly aesthetically pleasing but offer some educational details as well. To do this, I felt it needed a “company” to sponsor the ad so I made up “Green Forward” and created them a logo. I added some subtle effects in Photoshop and finally moved it all over to InDesign for the text.
