Thriller Film Opening Sequence

Task: to produce a two-minute opening sequence to a thriller film. This includes a title sequence and opening scene aimed at engaging the target audience and conforming to/challenging the conventions of real media products.
Project Summary
For this project, in a small group we decided to produce a psychological-thriller hybrid, telling the story of Anthony Hales, a 78 year old man who lives in small quaint village, where everyone knows each other. Unbeknown to the villagers, Anthony was a World War two veteran who has suffered with PTSD since returning from the brutality of the war. Anthony has cared for his granddaughter, Victoria Hales, since she was twelve, as she was told that her parents overdosed on drugs and died. This is something that has always played on Victoria's mind.
When a letter is received in the post addressed to Anthony, Victoria picks it up. The letter itself looks suspicious, so Victoria keeps it and opens it to find images of her deceased parents. The letter reveals the message "I know what you did" signed in what seems to be blood-red ink.
Will Victoria ever know that the real reason her parents died that day.

Our narrative explores conventional thriller techniques, including narrative retardation - this means that we have decided to keep the narrative held back, withdrawing kep parts of information from our audience and revealing them subtly, rather than presenting the storyline explicitly. This meant that our audience were forced to look deeper into the meanings and connotations our project explored in order to understand the narrative.
Inspired by David Fincher's 'SE7EN', we decided to reveal parts of our narrative through a fast-paced montage-based title sequence.

Stage Two: Storyboarding
The storyboard was an important part of our pre-production stage as it allowed us to go into the production phase with a clear plan, and idea for how things should look, which aided our filming process greatly. Gaining an understanding for how our final project will turn out also helped with ideas development. A great deal of our shots and narrative ideas were introduced at this stage as we were beginning to understand our narrative.
