The idea for this piece was harnessed from the gruesome act of human trophy taking, or in this particular case, collecting of auricles of fallen enemies. The snails were also found around these hearing organs of ours, as the inner ears auditory portion (cochlea) clearly resembles a snail shell.

That massive helmet-backpack on the patient is a sort of optical communication device. In light of that, one can only wonder how the invaders were able to be successful.
