Project: MEME
During the second year of my university, I was asked to look into ways people can use trending social terms to create adverts. For the project, I had to look at both Bottom-Up (Someone like you or me making a meme that is popular) and Top-Down Memes (Business using memes as part of their social campaign).

Grumpy Cat
Grumpy Cat was a famous meme which showed the face of a pet cat, it started when the brother of the owner posted a photo of the cat on Reddit and from there users submitted different memes that included the photo.

For the project, I wanted to show the journey of how someone who just posted the image for fun ended up becoming rich from that one photo with branding deals and more. I thought the best way to show this would be through an interactive timeline that showed how and when things happened and here is the result.
Old Spice
I was later asked to look at how businesses could use the social trend in their favour. So I began to look at Old Spice. Old Spice is a male shampoo brand that has become one of the most subscribed businesses on YouTube. Before they followed social trends the brand was on its last legs. the success of this was down to one clever idea, targeting women who buy their husbands products - and introducing a conversation on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

This part of the project took around a month to complete and was created as a video presentation. Bellow are some of the slides used.
