GUCCI'S CINDERELLA

  Gucci's Cinderella

There is much debate around the true material of Cinderella’s slipper. While the most popular story claims glass, many speculate that is was instead fur that made up her shoe.
Gucci is living up to the imagination of Cinderella’s fur slipper with their Princetown loafers. The company has been under a bit of a face lift under the creative direction of recently appointed Alessandro Michele. One of his biggest moves yet is giving their quintessential loafer the royal treatment, lining the interior of the shoe with various animal furs. The simple design change has gone above elevating the classic look of the already popular Gucci loafer, creating a new way to dress both luxuriously and comfortably.
Sold in sizes for both genders, bloggers from Leandra Medine to designers such as Marc Jacobs have found it refreshing and innovative, making the Princetown slipper a wardrobe staple. Incorporating the loafer is easy enough for anyone. They have been commonly styled with classic denim and collared shirts, or for a more stylized look, punchy dresses and flowing textiles.
Animal right’s activists have been concerned about the use of fur for the shoes, with particular regard to the kangaroo-lined loafers. Gucci upholds the fur is from wild kangaroos and that they are sustainable under their guidelines.
Under a steep price tag starting at just $840, admirers may need to decide whether or not Gucci’s slipper is a worthwhile staple investment, or a soon to be ousted trend.
