Go Dai
VFX
“Go Dai”  ("The Big Five" in Japanese) is the name of the five natural elements of the traditional Japanese philosophy: earth, fire, wind, water and spirit (i.e. supernatural things); exploring the Trapcode plugins (for Adobe After Effects), the work aims to digitally reproduce these elements, moving them following the soundtrack’s beat; this soundtrack was created ad hoc starting from 5 sounds reproducing the “groove” of each element. The animation ends with the appearance of the “Gorinto”, a holy Japanese sculpture that represents the five elements altogether.

Ursonate
Type Motion
This short animation aims to “give life” to the Ursonate (Die Sonate In Urlaten) by Kurt Schwitters (1924-25): a long chain of repetitive and insignificant sounds written to be interpreted by voice with different intonations.
The type motion focuses on the facial expressions caused by the lectures of the different verses, inspiring a hypothetical argument between two faces that ends in happiness. The facial expressions are all made by typographical characters and have been inspired by the live interpretations of Ursonate by Jaap Blonk (flong.com/projects/ursonography/).

The Body's Eyes
3D Animation
This project aims to transmit the sense of proprioception, i.e. the capacity to feel and recognize our own body in the space. The animation shows the point of view of a cube, trying to give a perception of its sizes and the space around it through an obstacle course. The obstacles are represented as solid words: each word is the name of the feeling perceived in trying to go beyond the obstacle itself. All these feelings are inspired by a chapter of "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" of Oliver Sacks.
