WORKSHOP: Visible Connections & Modularity
YEAR: DESIGN FESTIVAL MIKSER, MAY 2012

The central part of workshop program is the visit of the Swedish industrial designer recognized by Mia Cullin, known for his collaborations with IKEA which held between 30th of May to 1st of June , a three-day workshop called Visible Connections & Modularity and the keynote lecture at the Expo Auditorium in the house mixer.

Δangle and SWIRL are interior elements created during 3 days workshop held in Belgrade in collaboration with Nova Iskra design incubator and Swedish designer Mia Cullin.

SWIRL is based on a hexagon as a basic module that folds in different directions, allowing non-linear growing and expanding. Swirl is following the main idea of repetition and modularity to create unique double face interior element: curtain or partition wall. In addition to modularity Swirl explore visibility of connections between modules, as well as the relation between positive and negative space, form and anti form. Swirl is to be made as prototype in soft felxible material that allows to be folded and joined easily such as felt. Central area of the each modules can be opened in a way to create porous element to let visual connection between "in front" and "behind". Even percieved as a wall, connections between modules create three-dimensional continual surface.
Δangle is three-dimensio structure made of two hexagon elements folded and interconnected piece-into-piece to allow invisible connection. Triangle is designed to be a unique "statement" tea table made out of folded metal sheet with invisible joints with a solid top surface such as marble or stone. Triangle is exploring the idea of linear growing and functionality of created space "in between" surfaces.
