Art, History, & Art History
“History is a definitive aspect of humanity; whether we repeat it or not, the past influences the present. This is a widely understood idea, but one that is easily forgotten. History shows us all of humanity's wide-ranging achievements and ruinous mistakes, with the end goal of educating the next generation of history makers. As an artist, I aim to teach our history in a distinctly visual manner, through painting and drawing. With this work, I look to engage viewers with an exciting, contemporary vision of past figures and events that have defined our understanding of the present. From the intellectual minds of Benjamin Franklin and Alexander von Humboldt to the leading empires of Montezuma and Queen Elizabeth I , we are reminded of their relevance to the world today and how humanity's choices then do not greatly differ from the choices we make now.”
