Story Building CUI - Microsoft CLC

In the SCAD Collaborative Learning Center with Microsoft, students were tasked to design a product, service, or solution that demonstrates the value and differentiation of the Conversational User Interface in order to delight users. Our team's solution was Co, a story building companion that used natural language to build, illustrate, and archive family narratives, in order to bring families together and create a lasting artifact.
In this course, I was a member of the User Experience Design team, where we defined the core functions, established the user journey flow and wire framed how the user interacts with Co, and its different modes of storytelling.

In the initial stages, Co learns from its conversations with you and your child. As your relationship with Co develops, it applies what it has gathered to build enriching personalized conversations.
Out of the box, we designed Co to come prepared with delightful conversations and stories that evolve into charming narratives that encourage imagination through various components, such as a projector and Hi-Fi speakers.

The projector illustrates the stories through imagery and air drawings, while the Hi-Fi speakers provide sounds and voices of the story, so that the users are fully immersed in the conversation. Lastly, a camera is utilized to record moments, air drawings, and detect motion.
ReCo is a cloud-based content management system for Co that allows parents to stay close to their child while they are away by accessing memories and stories.

The ReCo application lets parents browse through weekly updates and a calendar to find stories that contain images, air drawings and stories as text. It also generates infographics to provide an analysis for the parents about how much time the family and child have spent with Co, as well as, how many words Co has learned. To set up restrictions, parents are able to speak with ReCo's chatbot interface to allow for more versatile and personalized administration for the family.
