Auburn head football coach Gus Malzahn says he is excited about the effort his team has brought to the table in off-season training camps and believes they are capable of performing well this season.
During spring and fall workouts, Malzahn said a “fierce competition” broke out between Jeremy Johnson, Sean White, and John Franklin III for the quarterback position. The depth at this position on the roster is something Malzahn says is encouraging, and he went on to say that he will likely use more than one quarterback this season, as his offense typically has what he refers to as a “wildcat guy” in addition to the starter.
With three talents vying so closely for the position during off-season camp, Malzahn says his team will look to run the ball more from the quarterback spot this year.
