AIAS Detroit Midwest Quad Conference

Detroit, MI
This Spring, my university held a nation wide conference for the AIAS (American Institute of Architects Students. As a participant of the AIAS, I volunteered to help with the advertising aspect of the conference.

One task was to create a guide booklet that would be distributed to the hundreds of attendees for the conference. This booklet was to be the ultimate guide for everything that was happening in the event as well as in the city of Detroit.

The theme of the event was "From mass production to individual expression", so throughout the booklet we tried to convey a sense of modernism to focus on the future of Detroit. As you can see from a critique standpoint, the booklet seems to contain a variety of ideas, too much in fact from my personal taste. However this was a group effort and changes were insurmountable.

The parts that I contributed in the booklet were in the cover, the table of contents, the schedule, and the Friday and Saturday night pages. This is the finished product.

Finally I was given separate duties to design the fliers to advertise the upcoming conference to our's as well as participating universities (nation wide). They are the last two images, I decided to make two different designs that could be alternatively used. Both also conveyed our theme of  going "From mass production to individual expression" as hinted from the different background images.

In conclusion I found this to be quite a learning experience in how to work in groups, especially one that is diverse as we were. Though I'm sure we could of went further, I think our advertisement was a success as the conference was very successful and it helped shed a positive light on the city of Detroit.
