Dangling and Spinning

Nature has always been my primary source of inspiration. Its shapes, colors, textures, smells, and everything it has to offer, inspire me. Whether if it’s in a figurative or abstract way, nature is always present in some way in everything I create. Hence, hanging vines and Spanish moss, are what have inspired me into creating this piece called “Dangling and Spinning” for my "Color Research and Processes" class. I used different sizes and types of natural 100% wool and dyed around 10 different colors. I braided, crocheted, knotted and made pom poms with the wool for the final piece. Purposefully, this fine art piece seeks to imitate the fall, rhythm, movement, and texture of vines and moss in their natural environments. It has gradation, repetition, contrast, balance and unity with variations in line, shape, size, texture and color.
