The brief for this project was to create a Geometric typeface, for the english alphabet. The final design was something that I had originally come up with when making sketches on various kinds of grid paper trying to learn how to apply some form of rule to types design.
The Final Typeface Design
This typeface was an earlier concept I came up with to simplify the historic Runic alphabet, into the Latin English alphabet
Alien -
a secondary concept that I deemed was too stylised, but was aesthetically appealing. Above the line in the form a title you can see the symbols that I used to create each letter, the 'Rule' for creating a letter was simply that I could use only 3 or less of the above
These final two were created in a side project about word play. I gained the idea to create these from the 'Game of Thrones' show, specifically dialogue between the characters Varys and Petyr Baelish - "Chaos is a pit" to which the reply was "Chaos isn't a pit, Chaos is a Ladder"
