During a four-months Computer Graphic class, the main work was to render an animation of an italian proverb. The process started with the general idea of a short story (about 1 minute) in which a character’s actions
had to express and embody the saying. The second step included the 3D modeling of all the items on the scenes and the characters themselves. After applying the necessary bones which would drive the figures’ skins towards the scene, they were properly animated. Consequently materials were put on props and characters, the ambient and the spot-lights were set and the cameras and view angles on the scene were chosen so that the initial idea could come to life. The final rendering completed the entire process.

General Idea:
The subject of this short animated story is the italian proverb “Chi imbocca tutti i vicoli troverà tanti pericoli”, which translated in English would be “Whom who walks all the lanes shall find many dangers on his path.”
The best way to represent in a funny, yet consistent, way the saying was the use of streets and lanes.
Therefore all of the actions take place in a city where an afternoon marathon has been organized. Lots of people watch the beginning of the run and follow the athletes during their trip throughout the city’s large streets.
A start and an arrival points were located in two large streets, so that all the partecipants could run together.

Yet there was someone who longed to win at all costs, so he thought of bypassing the barriers with a view to finding a faster way to the arrival. But cheating is never a good idea.
The Character:
Meet Frank, the main character of this short story.
He’s a good boy, but unfortunately for him a little naive. Taking a different path where there’s nobody
that could hinder him was surely a good idea, but fate was not on his side, nor it will be on cheaters’.
As a metter of fact every alley he took came out to hide some kind of danger that slowed his run.
When he finally found the arrival’s street it was too late; the marathon was already over and he was
the last partecipant to cross the finish line.

The location:
The actions take place in 3 different locations: the starting street, the endind one and the alleys Frank runs through. The beginning of the run is at noon, meaning daytime, and all the colors of the buildings and balloons can be seen. But Frank took so long to get to the arrival that it's almost night: the street lamps light the ground and a twilight sky surrounds him. The alleys show the degrade of the city with abandoned boxes, trash and dangerous stray cats.
