Rear Window // Title Sequence Remake

This title sequence remake elaborates and expands the original concept of the greatest film of 1954 "Rear Window" by Alfred Hitchcock. The initial opening windows idea is explored further by creating a series of scenes from the main character’s apartment interior to serve as plates for typography while building the narrative. Adding these scenes in sequence helps establish a proper mood for its audience and create a smooth transition into film. Warm color tones and appropriate lighting are used throughout the sequence in order to convey the feeling of a sunshine throughout and help establish the sunrise time to bring a new day, indicating an action is about to begin. Since most of the film scenes take place in Jeff’s apartment, the sequence preserves the film look by re-recreating all necessary elements to capture a feeling of isolation with only one source of information coming from his window serving as a key shot. Hitchcock used a lot of symbolism in this film, which carried through in each scene of this sequence as well. For instance, the main character’s camera is a key element - it is his weapon and a tool to document an evidence. Hence, using a series of symbolic elements such as Jeff’s wheelchair, cast, and binoculars is designed to convey the narrative and build anticipation.
