VIENTIANE - LAOS
Vientiane is the capital city of Laos, it is a delightful and friendly city. It is clean and comfortable but the people are poor due to the lack of government expenditure and some politic problems, thus they are living in a very slow rhythm country. Poor is the main reason for which categorises Laos to be one of the Asia’s most underdeveloped country. The insufficient of material life is obvious.
Due to so many problems that are evident in Laos, I would like to use YELLOW ORANGE to bring hope to them. Hope puts smile on our faces when our hearts cannot manage to do so. Hope puts our feet on the path when our eyes cannot see it.
YELLOW ORANGE represents life and hope. For me, the colour has such powerful meaning to each of us and graciously bestows the energy of blessings. So I came out with the idea is to Restore Laotians’ Hope. They are poor, they thought that they don’t have the reason to smile, however, in fact, they do smile when they are happy. There is a slow rhythm under which the people are elegant and graceful. They always take aloof attitude, and be kind to people and speak softly, but because of POOR their life is getting tougher.fact, they do smile when they are happy. The Vientiane logo, not only a visual design, but also tends to be my own creation typeface, logotype, which imitates Lao's brilliant fonts, this is shown in the features of YELLOW ORANGE dots and stroke of the logo, in order to comply with my whole concept
I had created 7 “smiling graphics” of Laotians’ major ethnics, which are distinguished with their unique costumes. Anyway, to smile is one of my important elements in the concept of HOPE, the trademark of those graphics is their sincere, warming, and heart-melted smile.
