The activity tracker | This activity tracker was an assignment during my bachelor industrial product design. While enhancing an arduino circuit board we had to create an enchanted object. After some research we discovered almost 75 % of the activity tracker users stops using their device within a year. By incorporating a social part and eliminating the need for a smartphone we want to motivate longterm usage.
Form exploration | Most of the activity trackers on the market are sporty and not very classy. We searched for a stylish solution for the watch: a leather strap combined with a brushed steel case.
CAD-design | By using Siemens NX we were able get an image of our product and how all the parts would fit together. These files were later used to print the different parts.
Realisation | The watchcase was made with a 3D-printer. The straps were made out of silicon that we poured in 3D-printed moulds. The components were stacked on top of each other in such a way that they would use as little space as possible. This prototype is a proof of concept so the dimensions of our prototype don't match with the final design.
