RWBY Ursa Costume

I noticed with many of the RWBY cosplay photos in the various Facebook groups there was a dirth of Grimm creatures. So I decided to become one myself. I made these pieces from cardstock paper, duck tape plaster wrap, mesh ribbon, and twine. All the supplies were purchased from Michaels Arts and Crafts stores.
The three main pieces of the costume are the clawed gloves, the shoulder and back spines, and the Grimm mask.
First are the gloves. The gloves themselves are simple loose knit mesh, store bought. The claws are made of printer paper folded into origami claws and covered in white duck tape. The claws are held in place by twine sewn through the gloves.
The shoulder and back spines are made from rolled cardstock paper. The spines are secured with white duck tape and sewn on to the straps. The back net and shoulder straps are made from a mesh ribbon, stitched into a panel and fitted to hang down my back.
Side view to give you a sense of the length. Crude but effective, appropriate for the Grimm.
The mask is made from plaster wrap. The muzzle was a rolled piece of paper stuck over my mouth when the mask was constructed. The red paint mimics the pattern of the Ursa Grimm.
The side view shows the length of the muzzle.
The teeth are cut from cardstock and pasted on the inside edge with Mod Podge. Then I applied another layer of Mod Podge to strengthen the paper a bit more.
You can see the extent of the paper in dimmer light.
Here is the full costume, assembled and ready for Fanime.
And I found someone willing to act out one of my favorite moments from RWBY Season 1.
