South West Regional Finalist CandidatMarch 2011 Lloyd's Art of Nurture Art Competition
Outline of Competition

Create a piece of visual art that would support and illustrate one of Lloyd's company values including:
My theme of submission is "We succeed together" as a topic I feel strongly about in the current time of the economy.

Submission Statement

Success today is about stability and growth, which are also the key challenges in our current economic climate. The concept of a tree provides an ideal representation of “succeeding together” in an organic way.

This piece reflects the union of society to find the best way to work together, provide support to address challenges and ensure successful, fertile outcomes. This notion is emphasised by using abstract figures as the trunk of the tree. Their various poses and balancing of one another were used to demonstrate teamwork. Moreover, it illustrates how valuable each individual’s contribution is in achieving a better and brighter future, which is also reflected by the colourful blossoming of trees. The leaves are not only green as this could represent a mediocre baseline outcome. The intentional use of colourful leaves emphasises the additional positivity and colourful outcomes of succeeding together!

The sizes of the trees represent the differing goals we have varying in our short to long term. The small tree represents the short term goals we have to provide stability whilst the large tree reflects growth into future. The semi-retro appearance of this piece is used to give it a more bold and distinctive look.
