Anxiety can feel suffocating and overwhelming to those who suffer from it. Under the Surface was created to encapsulate and embody the experience of living with anxiety. It is something that is right underneath the surface and possibly goes unnoticed by others.
The piece illustrates the relationship between how anxiety affects someone internally and also how it is externally seen by others. The piece surrounds and incases the body heavily at the base of the neck to symbolize the internal manifestation of anxiety and then filters down into the branch-like forms as the external counterpart.
