“Everybody else ran and hid once “they” showed up… but not her. She was reading alone when she heard the soft humming, she knew they were here. Lacing up her boots, one foot after the other she walked out her front door and stared at their light. She had no idea what was in store for her, but she knew for certain she wouldn't have to pay rent, worry about disease, or be around her cruel species any more. In a way it was freeing. If they tested on her, she was sure to die, but dying is better than what she has grown used too.”
