This is a conceptual piece challenging the idea of what is considered to be valuable. By taking something old, worn, torn, dirty, discarded, and deemed to have little worth, and making it valuable again, the irony is highlighted as each fault is celebrated.
I embellished my father's mechanic overalls, emulating a spring garden or moss growing in crevices. Representing his struggle with mental health, I wanted to send a symbolic message that every tear, hole and stain can be made beautiful.
