“Hope is the crutch of the fallen and the grit of the challenger. It burns in the hearts of those who go through the fires of hell and uncertainty aiming to build a better future. Sometimes in life, there are situations or people who hurt us, suffocate us or imprison us. Despite all our efforts to ‘try and make things better’, things don’t change and, if we stay, deeper in the main hole we shall fall. But in those dark times, there is always that something that will give us enough humility to fight our ego and give us courage to set for greener lands. Its name is Hope. It might emanate from a thought, a memory, a friend, someone who cares about us or someone we care about. As we march towards the Promised Land, those situations or people once torturing us will try to pull us back. Some might use force and others might even blackmail us emotionally. Determination and strength of heart are keys to escape their avid claws. As we approach the green land, barriers often rise from the ground. The people helping us usually become pressured not to help because of fear: fear of being taken advantage of, fear of losing people’s admiration or fear of administration. Some may lose heart and others may become suspicious of our intentions. There again, hope, love, courage and trust are the only keys to help us flow over those barriers and set foot in the welcoming lands of peace.”
