Save Dave's 'Stache

Save Dave's 'Stache
Can a person harness the power of social media to save a man's facial hair? Yes, kind of.

My coworker Dave grew a mustache for Movember and as much as people hated it, I thought it fit his hipster vibe. Myself and designers Lauren Schroer and Jeni Brendemuehl set out to create a website filled with images  and messages from friends, family and coworkers encouraging Dave to save the 'stache and not shave once Movember was over.

In the end, the 'stache WAS shaved, but Dave felt very loved and had an entire website full of messages and photos from people that care about him.
Namibian school-children sporting mustaches that they cut out of paper. Dave's sister teaches them and made it the day's art project. (She's the white person wearing hot pink in the photo.)
One of Dave's elementary teachers supporting the cause.
This is Dave's own mother. She said that she didn't like the mustache, but loved what we were doing for her son.
A mustachioed Chicago flag.
You might remember the actor Dennis Franz from his time on NYPD Blue. He played a tough New York cop with a mustache. In real life, he is not a cop. But he's tough, and he has a mustache. I reached out to him and he reached back, encouraging my buddy Dave to not shave.
The Bedford is a pretty fun local restaurant, located in an old bank, by the way.
Please disregard Cara.
